Dixie Narco 440, single price not accepting coins

Greetings,

I have been troubleshooting all possible causes and would like some assistance on the following:-

1. When i switch the machine on without the vend/credit relay inserted i get a zero on the LCD display. I have a MEI cashflow 100 coinmench. I am able to go into programming mode(yellow button), but still will not accept coins. No red light on mech to show inhibit.

2. With the vend/credit relay inserted, i have a 07.50 on the LCD. The red light on the mech is on but it would not go to program mode(yellow button). I notice that every couple of seconds there is a flicker on the LCD, which only lasts a second which then shows 0 on the LCD. I notice that at this time it does go into program mode. Also accepts coins only when that happens.

3. Accepts coins to the value of the cooldrink, then the relay clicks and the vend sequence activates. The credit is cancelled and change given but no option to make selection.

I tried to give as much information as possible, your assitance will be highly appreciated. Regards Mervin

MEI Cashflow 100 ???

Mervin,
There is something wrong here. I have never heard of an MEI Cashflow 100 coin mech. A quick search on Google turns up nothing by that number. So you might want to go re-verify that model number, a CF 7000 maybe?
Also your machine is a single price machine and only certain coin mechs will work on a machine that old. Get back with me with the correct MEI Model number and we can check it out on the compatibility chart and look up the correct Tech Manual for it.
Finally I need to know what you mean by "the vend sequence activates" do you mean it vends a can with out a button push? Or the vend relay just clicks and no button works?
Get back to me and we figure it out.

MEI coin mech

Hi Daryl, thank you for your assistance!

I checked the model and it is the CF 540, it is an old mech and I think production discontinued some time ago.

It's actually called the sequencing relay, it has two positions and moves between the two. There is also a click from the vend relay.

I think you on the right right track with regards to compatibility of the mech with the single price machine, please confirm for me.

If not compatible, is it possible to convert the cf540 to work in the single price machine.?

Thank you for your time

Regards

Mervin

MEI coin mech

Mervin,
sorry it took so long but there was a problem on this site with comments not getting upload correctly, that is fixed now.
The MEI CF540 can be compatible with a single price machine, there is a switch to change from 1 price to 4 price. For info on that read the CF540 manual here: http://www.vend-resource.com/book/mei-mars-cashflow-cf540-coin-mech-pock...

As for that sequencing relay they are used on Coke branded machines to make the first to columns vend from 1 button (the first), the sequencing relay toggled back and forth to switch between the 2 columns with each vend. I have had problems with those sequencing relays before you might check to make sure it is toggling each time. Your sequencer should look something like the pic below.
Number 3 in your original post sounds like an open circuit somewhere this is usually caused by a motor not returning to home position, this is a common problem and there is already a post that covers it pretty good here: http://www.vend-resource.com/forum-topic/dixie-dncb-276-162-5-random-dis...
Hope this helps,
daryl
