Crane/National 430 - temp adjustment ?

Hi, I just got a rebuilt Shoppertron 430. It cooled off in under 30 minutes, didn't trip the health alert at all.

Wondering if there's a way to adjust the temp setpoint down a bit? Its hanging around 45, I would like it closer to 40, or even 38... I'm initially using it to sell odd-size drinks -- don't want them frozen, but I would prefer them colder than 45.

Thanks much,

-Matt-

Setting a National 430 colder.

msturtz,
The temperature switch is fixed at 45 degrees. You could probably wire a second adjustable thermostat (in separate circuit) to turn the compressor on and bring the temp down to 38-40 degrees. The problem is the PC controller board that runs the machine starts timing when the 45 degree switch turns on and if it takes more than 30 minutes for the switch to turn off it assumes the cooling systems is down and it disables the machine. So when you wire your 2nd thermostat it would have to be on a totally separate circuit or it wouldn't work and you might even burn out your PC board (Ouch! $200). To do this you will need to find a wiring diagram of a National 430. Unfortunately our manual here on this website doesn't contain a wiring diagram, sorry. If you can find one it should be pretty straight forward to wire it, just be sure to avoid the 45 degree temp switch circuit!
Hopes this helps,
daryl
