Crane 159 one whole tray has "make another selection" on every other slot

I have a Crane model 159 snack vending machine. Recently, one full tray (Tray D) stopped vending from half of its slots. Slot D0, D2, D4, D6 and D8 vend fine. Slots D1, D3, D5, D7 and D9 will not vending and give the "Make another selection" message. Does any know what might cause this to happen? They all show the correct price when the price is checked.
