We are brand new to the vending world and just purchased a Dixie Narco 368-216 1989 Model. It was broken prior to our purchase so we have very little history. We were told by the previous owners that it is something to do with the coin collector. I have tested the dollar acceptor and that works fine... except it does not give change back if the change button is pushed down and will not vend pop. Also the coin acceptor works but it does not give change back. I have tested the vending by pushing down the metal lever to manually advance the motors and they seem to be working fine. We have pop in each slot. It almost seems like the coin acceptor is not recognizing the coins being inserted and will not vend. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Is at least 1 of the sold out switches depressed?
Sorry, I am not really sure what you mean by that? The sold out lights seems to work fine but depressed... I am not following. Remember I am very green to the vending world :(
Ok, not a problem. Put 8 sodas in one column, (no matter what model you have that will activate the machine. Once you have the sodas in place try it again. This will depress the sold out switch and let the acceptor work, it will also deactivate the sold out lamp for that column.
If it accepts your money, press that button and it should cycle. A machine that has all sold out switches active, will not accept money. If you try to hold down the switch with something other than sodas, thebars that move will smash what ever is in its way (please use sodas). Hope this helps.
Thanks Snoopy. Does it actually need 8 sodas(or in our area we call them cans of pop..haha) to function properly? I have tried with single cans and the motors seem to work when tested at the motor itself. Aslo, the machine does take dollars just fine and coins just fine but will not give change or dispense pop... just keeps allowing change to be deposited into machine. Something tells me it is maybe a control board or something to do with the coin mechanism....
I don't believe your model has a board to speak of. If it keeps taking money but not giving soda/turning motor, maybe be the changer is bad. Does your changer have 8 blades (2 rows of of four) and a round post in between the blades where it plugs in?
Here are a couple photos.
In plug your machine. Then unplug your changer and send aa photo of the changer plug end. Yours seems to be single price, but I won't guess. The end of the plug on the changer will give us a positive answer.
Are your referring to this plug?
You have a single price machine as I expected. My suggestion would be to replace the changer. If it takes money and doesn't give credit to buy soda, it needs replacing. You have put more money over the price set, right? When you exceed the price set, you should hear a clicking sound and the door lamp will flash. If that doesn't happen then changer is bad. You can find changers everywhere for about $125.00 plus shipping cost.
Thanks snoopy!!!- is there any specific place your recommend to purchase a changer? Can I assume it is as simple as pulling it out and plugging the new one back in?
Most places that sell a lot of vending equipment would probably be a safe bet. It is as simple a lifting the old one up (provided the 3 screws are not tightened) and setting the new one in its place. If you cannot find a dealer close to you, I can provide one provided you send me the old one for exchange. Let me know if you want me to sell you one.
Cointron 525E-CAV-C
This is the model I currently have. I have not been able to find a replacement online. Is there a specific item/similar model I should look for? I have been looking at Vending World. I hate to bother you for one unless it is easy for you to send a replacement...
Any single price changer will do (Coinco is my personal preference). Some of the models are.....
3341-S, S75-9800B-907, 9360-S. MARS unit TRC 6800 will also work. If you still have problems let me know, I can get one out to you (not a problem) we vendors look out for each other...most of the time...lol. Good luck.
Thank you very much. We found a local vending repair shop and purchased a refurbished coinco. We got the machine working last night.
Good luck with your vendor.
