Hey Everyone I just joined the forum, and don't know a whole lot about vending machines. I just found an old Dr Pepper machine on craigslist for 100$
I'm planning on putting at a concert venue I own and stocking it with beer.
however It is equipped with a coin acceptor only. I was wondering if its possible to install a bill acceptor into this style of machine. The name and year of the machine wasn't given but I though maybe one of you guys could identify it and give me some insight.
Thanks for the help and happy new year
jeff225,
It looks like Dixie-Narco model 168 or 180. The case dimensions are the same the only difference is in the total can capacity (168 or 180). You can down load a manual for it right here on this site:

As for adding a validator I have seen a couple of them done, there isn't enough room to install one in coin slot area. So they usually have to cut out a hole in the plastic and custom make brackets to hold the validator (the plastic is not strong enough to hold it on it's own). But outside of that all you need are a validator (Coinco BA-30 or similar, $50 ebay), a single price electronic coin mech (Coinco 3340-S or similar, $50 ebay) and a wiring harness for the validator/coin mech combo you choose ($15). Total about $115. When you get it done post a picture we'd like to see it.
